Blissful Outreach Project

As many of you already know, we spend some time
every year on retreat in India. We go to the Brahma Kumaris Headquarters in Rajasthan and enjoy some time having extra meditation and spiritual study.

While we are there, we also take time to go out with one of our friends Dr Vinay Laxmi.

She is a surrendered Yogi who works at the Global Hospital set up by the
B.Ks. She works for free as do most of the staff there and they give much
needed healthcare to the local people. Vinay has also been inspired to
take healthcare out into the Villages in the surrounding areas.

The tribal people who live there were reluctant to come to the Hospital,
so Vinay decided it was necessary to go out and meet them in their own
environment. She found many children suffering from severe malnutrition, these are some of the poorest people in India and food is often scarce. I myself have seen the tiniest babies whose mothers have no milk and many toddlers who have ricketts and other conditions associated with malnitrition.

With the Brahma Kumaris Vinay has set up a nutrition and educational programme whereby local schools have been set up to provide one balanced meal a day along with basic education. Its a simple but effective idea. The children come to school for the food but they are also educated which will help them move out of the poverty trap. What really inspires us about this project is that ALL the funding goes straight to the people.......nobody is paid...there are no big marketing or advertising campaigns. Its all grass roots stuff.

Bliss want to help this project. We have met many of the children...2 year old Sonal...5 year old Hemad. We just hope they will survive to meet us again next year. We have made a short film about this project which will be released on this site with other visuals soon.
